  • By Fleet Trades

Carrying a wide or large load on your Fleet Trades tray? Or maybe you just need to slide something heavy on and off your tray? All three of our tray makes - Steel, Heavy Duty Aluminium and Standard Aluminium - featur  drop sides which can be fully removed to help with ease of loading and unloading at home or on the work site.

To remove and refit the drop sides, all you need is a pair of needle nose pliers and your hands. The process shouldn’t take longer than a few minutes once you’ve got the hang of it. Let us take you through each step below…

Step 1: Remove the circlip

Grab your needle nose pliers and remove the circlip as pictured below.

Step 2: Lower the drop side

As you lower the drop side, be sure to take care as you slide it off the hinge pins. Your drop side will be fully removed. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to remove the other sides.

Step 3: Reverse the process

When you need to refit your drop sides, all you need to do is reverse the procedure by sliding the drop side hinges on the hinge pins located on the tray base.

Step 4: Secure the circlip

Once the drop side is slid back on the hinge pins, insert and secure the circlip on the indentation on the tray base to ensure the drop side does not fall off.

Step 5: Raise drop sides

With the drop side in place, raise it up and secure the latches. Your tray will be back together again.
